Implementing a new assessment can be complex, but the right guidance makes all the difference. That’s why we’re excited to launch a new blog series designed specifically for Educator Preparation Providers (EPPs) looking to implement the EPiC™ Key Assessment with clarity, confidence, and consistency.

At the center of EPiC is its Evidence-First™ scoring process, which ensures fairness and clarity by focusing solely on observable, documented evidence from instruction. Rather than interpreting performance through generalized rubrics, scorers evaluate what candidates do and say with students. This approach provides every candidate with a fair, transparent, and actionable evaluation of their practice.
This blog series will guide you through the key decision points when implementing the EPiC Key Assessment, such as:
When to administer the assessment within your program sequence
How to scaffold support through practice opportunities and personalized resources
What to consider when setting performance expectations, including cut-off scores
How to design a remediation process that supports candidate growth
In addition to guidance for EPPs, candidates have access to short, focused videos aligned to each of the ten EPiC™ rubrics—from A-1: Planning Standards-Based & Content-Specific Instruction to B-4: Using Data to Plan for Future Learning. These videos help candidates understand what’s expected, reflect on their instructional choices, and approach the assessment with greater clarity and confidence.
Over the next few posts, we’ll break down these implementation elements, sharing concrete examples and planning tips to help your team roll out EPiC in a way that works for your unique program model.
