EPiC™ goes beyond serving as a valid and reliable Key Assessment; it operates as a preparation system that strengthens candidate readiness.
While the EPiC™ Key Assessment serves as a summative capstone, its aligned Practice Modules provide structured, formative rehearsal opportunities tied directly to each rubric. Candidates apply what they've learned, receive targeted feedback, and strengthen their performance before the final evaluation.
Preparation is not the same as rehearsal. EPiC supports both.

Closing the Readiness Gap
Faculty often see it:
Candidates understand instructional theory.
They can analyze sample lessons.
They can discuss best practices.
But when asked to produce rubric-aligned evidence of their own planning, instruction, or assessment analysis, performance may feel uneven.
Not because they lack knowledge, but because they haven’t practiced performing against explicit evidence markers.
EPiC Practice Modules close that gap.
What Practice Looks Like
Each Practice Module aligns with a specific EPiC rubric and can be embedded in existing coursework or field seminars.
For example:
A methods instructor assigns a draft lesson plan already required for the course. Feedback is aligned to EPiC™ Rubric A-1, using evidence markers like 1.1 Lesson Plan Clarity, 1.2 Standards & Learning Targets/Objectives Alignment, and 1.3 Planned Activities & Learning Targets/Objectives Alignment. Candidates revise accordingly. By the time they submit their capstone lesson, the rubric language and expectations are familiar — not new.
The assignment didn’t change. The clarity did.
Faculty Support — Not Added Work
Because the EPiC Key Assessment Practice Modules are rubric-aligned:
Feedback becomes more focused and efficient.
Faculty coach toward classroom performance expectations from the start.
Teacher candidates enter the capstone with fewer surprises.
Programs can also:
Identify candidates needing support before final evaluation
Track readiness progress through dashboard analytics
Monitor rubric growth trends across cohorts
Practice becomes formative intelligence — not remediation.
From Practice to Performance
Confidence grows when expectations are transparent, and rehearsal is intentional.
EPiC™ ensures that when candidates reach the summative Key Assessment, they are demonstrating growth they’ve already practiced — not encountering the rubric for the first time.
Discover EPiC™
During next week’s Discover EPiC™ Q&A webinar, we’ll explore how programs are embedding Practice Modules within coursework and field experiences to strengthen candidate readiness without increasing faculty workload.
If candidate readiness matters as much as candidate completion, this session will show how programs are making that shift.
