Evaluating Standards-Based Assessments and Rubrics with EPiC™

The importance of creating effective, standards-based assessments and rubrics cannot be overstated. These tools are essential for accurately measuring student understanding, guiding instructional practices, and ensuring that all learners' developmental and academic needs are met. For teacher candidates, mastering the creation of such assessments is a pivotal component of their preparation, as it directly impacts their ability to foster a conducive learning environment.

One of the primary responsibilities of Educator Preparation Providers (EPPs) is to ensure that their candidates are proficient in creating standards-based rubrics aligned with assessments. This alignment is crucial for several reasons:
